Basic Premise of Aromatherapy
All aromatherapy is the same in that it’s not the scent itself but how the body reacts to the scent. Aromatherapy works on the limbic or message center of the brain. Inhaling the product triggers certain physical and/or emotional responses. Marjoram is the main ingredient and is the key to stopping the snoring. Marjoram causes the body to tighten the soft tissue at the back of the throat – the uvula and soft pallet. This tissue vibrates and is the source of the snoring noise. Marjoram on its own however, is not as effective as when blended with the other oils. Peppermint and Eucalyptus are good respiratory oils and Lavender is a good sleeping aid benefiting both people.
Not only is it very effective at stopping or reducing snoring, it is a great all around respiratory and sleeping aid for adults and kids with congestion from colds or allergies, asthma, headaches, the list goes on. Arraby's oils are non-burning...just open the jar to receive the benefits.
AROMATHERAPY 101
Essential oils are natural plant oils derived from plant material using various methods. These include steam distillation, pressing, and solvent extraction. Each has its practical uses.
Steam distillation is commonly used for plant material that doesn’t cold press well. The plant material is cooked using steam. The relatively high temperature forces the oil out of the plant material and it goes into solution with the water vapor. This vapor is extracted and cooled at which point the oil separates and is removed from the water. Cold pressing is commonly used for oils contained in the rinds or peels of fruit such as Orange or Bergamot. The plant material is pressed, yielding a liquid that naturally separates into the essential oil, water and other components.
Solvent extraction uses a hydrocarbon based solvent that is mixed with the plant material. The solvent dissolves the essential oil into solution. This solution is extracted in a resin or concrete form. Pure alcohol is added and the essential oil is removed with the alcohol. The alcohol evaporates leaving the essential oil behind. This is the least preferred method as trace amounts of the solvent can remain.
SAFETY Caution needs to be exercised. Think of essential oils as natural chemicals. They can provide great benefits if used correctly but if misused they have the potential to cause harm. In the process of producing essential oils, a great amount of plant material is used relative to the small yield; therefore they are much more concentrated than the original plant material. In some cases, Jasmine for example, several thousand pounds of flowers are needed to produce only a few pounds of oil. In other cases, Orange for example, much less material is needed to produce the same quantity of oil. Regardless, in both cases the oil is much more concentrated than the original material.
Arraby’s products are not to be ingested. If an adult, child or pet ingests some oil they should seek medical attention. Eucalyptus has the potential to kill an adult if enough is consumed. The aromatic oils are meant for inhalation only; the creams and gels for topical application to the skin. Some of the scents smell good enough to eat, especially the fruits. Parents should be cautioned to keep the product out of the reach of curious children. Sleep Apnea: The person snoring might have sleep apnea. Do they seem to stop breathing and then after a slight pause, have a huge snore and then resume snoring until another slight pause? Also, do they wake up tired, do they fall asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow and can they literally fall asleep anywhere? These are indicators of sleep apnea. If you suspect sleep apnea, you should consult a doctor. Snore No More may have a limited effect or will not be effective in these serious snoring cases. AROMATIC OILS
- therapeutic pure essential oils for benefits and as a room freshener. - blends of therapeutic pure essential oils for benefits and as a room freshener. - fragrance oils for use as a room freshener and to enhance the mood.
Arraby’s pure essential oils are certified therapeutic grade.
All of the pure essential oils and fragrance oils are mixed with Sweet Almond oil and Vitamin E oil to stabilize them. On their own they evaporate very quickly and in some cases will go rancid before they evaporate.
The basic premise of the aromatic oils is that they are in a jar with a sponge. The sponge helps to both keep the oil from sloshing around and helps to diffuse the scent into the room.
Squeeze sponge once or twice a week to remix the oils in the jar.
